For nearly 20 years, the San Diego County Medical Society (SDCMS) has partnered with San Diego Magazine to recognize the most respected physicians by their peers. Voting and nominations are open to all doctors in San Diego. Voting Doctors asks doctors within and outside of the specialty to vote by recommending their friends and family. Through this process, we identified 747 physicians in 98 specialties.
In a synchronized effort, SDCMS verifies each candidate’s current practice status with the California Licensing Medical Board. This year, 747 doctors were honored through this comprehensive course. Over the years since I started posting this list, many of them have gained recognition. (These doctors have their name followed by their chosen number of years in parentheses.)
It should be noted that many excellent physicians are not included on this list. Due to strict selection criteria, only a small number of doctors are selected for each major.
