Planning a trip here can be a bit confusing when trying to figure out when is the best time to visit the Philippines. The Philippines has two distinct seasons, the rainy season and the dry season.

It may seem simple… you want to visit the Philippines during the dry season right?? Well, we think the answer is a little more complicated than that.

There are advantages and disadvantages to traveling in both seasons and the weather in any place may not be as predictable as we would like.

In short, you’ll have the best chance of pleasant weather in December – February, the coldest months of the dry season. It is recommended to avoid visiting from August to mid-October as it is typhoon season.

As the Philippines is in the typhoon belt, the possibility of typhoons is also high during the rainy season. The country experiences up to nineteen typhoons every year, especially in August-October.

November: Officially the start of the dry season in the Philippines, however, there is still a chance of typhoons as the weather can be unpredictable.

December: Cooler temperatures and mostly clear skies (with minimal chance of storms) usher in peak travel season.

January: One of the coldest months in the Philippines means temperatures will be cool without getting too hot. The peak of the dry season means you will have good weather.

March: Temperatures start to warm, but conditions are still good for traveling in the Philippines this month. Holy Week (the week before Easter) is busy and best avoided if possible as accommodation will be limited.

April: This is the hottest and last month of the dry season, so temperatures will be at their highest.

The rainy season in the Philippines lasts from May – October and the trees are usually at their most beautiful in May – June. Most storms occur in August-October and can cause road closures and flight cancellations. So it is not advisable to travel during this time.

July: Rainier, especially in the north. However, the central region (around Cebu) is still mostly dry.

August: Monsoon season begins towards the end of the month and heavy rainfall can be expected. If you expect clear skies during your vacation, it is better to avoid this month.
